If all N64 games & emulators suddenly disappeared and this was the only 1 left, it would be worth downloading & playing. Then your missing out, BIG TIME, there are alot of good games for the N64, but this is without a doubt, the best, maybe even the best game ever created. If you haven't played Zelda - Ocarina of Time. If you like it, I recommend playing A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker. It is a fun diversion that will last you a few hours. The game is good, yes, but it isn't perfect. The camera gets in the way, box-pushing puzzles abound, etc. It does, however, suffer from the same thing that most games of this nature do. The game's simple mechanics work so well together that the game is more than the sum of its parts. The dungeons are vast, and boss battles amount to the sum of the skills you've been practicing throughout those dungeons. Ocarina has many great things going for it. Since the series in general is well-made, people usually have fond memories of the game that introduced them to said series. This is when a game in a series is the first that many people played. Ocarina suffers from what I call "Final Fantasy VII Disorder". It isn't the best game ever made, and it isn't even the best Zelda game.

That said, The Ocarina of Time is a good game. But don't let that turn you off, the game is absolutely amazing and blows all the other Zelda titles away!Īs someone who has been playing Zelda games since the original was released on the NES, I feel like I know the series well. So you might want to turn around and buy one the moment you get the game to save yourself hours of frustration stuck in a dungeon, at least to reference with on occasion. It would seem almost impossible to get through some places without a strategy guide. It was nice because they incorporated bits of the older Zelda games into this one, yet it was a totally new, refreshing story. All the sword fights have to be done by the player, unlike the final fantasy series where you simply choose an attack from the menu.Īll of the dungeons and towns in Zelda are unique, meaning that it's not the same town over and over again, only with a new name and a different color scheme ) Each place is quite memorable with it's own set of characters and landmark distinctions. You start out as Link as a child, and unlike RPG games, it is all action so it takes more than strategizing to make your way through this game.

I had come from playing A Link to the Past before trying out The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and I was amazed. This is without a doubt the best Legend of Zelda, and possibly the best game for the N64, ever made.
